Karl Shibayama is an experienced photographer, graphic designer, and industrial designer, recently transplanted from Seattle to Bentonville, Arkansas. With 25+ years of experience in design, he has a unique depth of knowledge and familiarity with the entire creative process - from concept and development to production and implementation - allowing him to find successful solutions for a variety of project types.
Most recently, Karl filled a unique niche as a hybrid photographer and graphic designer for PMI, working on visual communications for their brands Stanley and Aladdin as well as Starbucks, a major customer. From lifestyle and product shots to product labels and website images/content, Karl’s portfolio conveys his broad skills and clean, consumer-focused design solutions.
Karl is a believer in collaboration and the benefits of working on a team. He has a way of creating synergy and enthusiasm with his colleagues that allows them to push the boundaries beyond their shared business objectives. He easily navigates through a range of roles within the team, allowing him to be as comfortable setting up a complex photoshoot as he is providing creative direction and achieving team buy-in for a new campaign.
An avid volunteer, Karl believes giving back to his community is a critical element in keeping him energized. He’s lent his skills in team leadership to his role as a Hospital Liaison at Harborview Medical Center, trauma center for the Northwestern US,and is a volunteer photographer and graphic designer for several non-profit organizations.
